Ancestries

One of the fundamental choices that a character needs to make in creation concerns their Ancestry, meaning what species are they?

In general, Ancestries will impact game mechanics through:

  • Attribute Modification

  • Size Modification

  • Talent and Flaw Selection.

Attribute Modifications adjust both the Attributes themselves as well as the Maximums for the Attribute.

If Strength is increased by 10, then the Maximum is now 110 instead of 100, for a 10 Force character.

This also impacts Attribute increases through XP purchase.  XP costs shift upward if the attribute is increased.  Normally, increasing an Attribute from 51-60 costs 1 XP per point.  A character whose Strength has been modified by 20 will start at a 70.  Purchasing Attribute points from 71-80 will now cost 1 XP per point.

Talents and Flaws are a way of creating character differences that are more like abilities or traits rather than a skill that one can learn.  Ancestries have both Ancestry specific talents and flaws.
