The Midlands

The Midlands is the name of a world that is in an adjacent universe to our Modern Day Earth.  It is different from Earth in various ways. 

 

The first of which is that it is dimensionally porous.  Periodically, incursions from other dimensions occur bringing both biological life as well as geological formations.  This is why there are similar cultures here, as Egyptians, Romans, French, English, Norse, Arabs, Chinese and Japanese populations have migrated here, even though it was unwilling.

The second way in which this world differs is that it experiences both times and places of rapid evolution.  This leads to the creation of new species much faster than on our world.

​

Finally, it is a place where magic is much more prominent.  Divinity, too, may act more openly than on our world.  On the other hand, technology is much farther behind than on Earth.
